As I type this I hear five people breathing and snoring. Some talking in their sleep and me clicking away on the laptop. We just arrived a few hours ago in Salt Lake. I was realizing that our family is in the middle of alot of changes. The moving being one of them. My kids have grown up over night. Any change, even if it is back to somewhere you have been, brings anxiety. And there will always be missing.
Moving change. I forgot about half the things a person should do when moving to a new place. Like making sure you have gas and electricity in your name at your home. I hope I took care of that. I forgot that you have no control over your things once they leave your possession. I was informed (yesterday)today that one of our trailers cannot be delivered, because they will only make one delivery a day. To bad our church clothes are in that truck that won't arrive. But I think we can find some old ones in the stuff that I hope gets there. Yes, there is a slight possible chance no truck will arrive until Monday. I can find out in about 3 and a half hours, where my household items are.
My kids have grown up over night. Lizzy has been informing me, for awhile now that she is not a little girl anymore. And I realized this travelling week, that yes she is growing up, even if I want to keep her young. Two kids going through such change has brought me to the realization that Robert and Kyle are not as young as I think they are either. I want a new version of the toys R us song. I don't want my kids to grow up. They have changed and grown before my eyes, but my eyes have been blinded by my selfish desire to keep them young. Ugh do I really have to change with them too. Being a mother of a preschooler seems much easier than being the mother of a teenager. I don't want to grow up.
Any change even if it is back to somewhere you have been brings anxiety. My own anxiety is for having bridges that have been a little burnt and that they might need to be rebuilt. Rebuilding is always hard, because it is never the same as the first bridge, and you wish so much that it could be. I can assume (which I am doing) that Dave's anxiety is that we, his little family, will still have problems. I guess that anxiety will exist no matter what. Every family has problems. Steven today let me in on a little worry he has, about the lockers at school. He has never had to use a locker. How does the combination work. I am sure he has other worries. His friends will still be his friends they are good to him and I am sure they will watch out for him. Lizzy, her anxiety, I could never begin to understand the workings of a girl who thinks she should say whatever comes to her mind. She has no personal censor, so I guess I have more anxiety for her, than she has for herself. She just says and does what she wants, without regard because her moral compass says this is the way it is done. I can sorta relate to her, but I also know how much that philosophy can cause you emotional stress. I hope she learns how to protect her sensitive self. I can't be with her all the time now. Robert has had such anxiety about moving he JUST WANTS IT TO BE OVER!! Yes, I meant for that to all be in caps. When you are almost ten and you have to say goodbye to your buddy, it is easier to say good bye if you are mad at him; than if you are going to cry because you will miss playing and seeing him everyday. And that Yard duty you don't like is easier to tick off if you don't have to come back to school the next day. Talk about anxiety, (for the mom) in not knowing how to change all the negatives to positives. Please let us find a sport that can positively channel all that energy. Kyle's anxiety is momentary, getting food, getting out of the long car ride. He was not attached to any one person, and so maybe his anxiety is just getting back to playing with Aldren and Kaden and Jeffery. He did mention the little boy that lives in our circle now Devon, too. I know my social kids won't have any problem making friends with their old friends. Mother and Fathers can only do what they can. I am taking encouragement in the feeling of peace that we had when we decided to pursue the move back to Utah, and hope that this peace will overcome any worry or hard time that comes.
Missing...Maybe Robert has a good idea about making it easier to not miss someone because you are mad at them. There is always missing. Missing the football game, the green shoes, the coaching opportunities, the young men in the ward, lunch with your friends from work. The brother and other family left behind. I am so glad we got a chance to say good bye to some of our family. Wish we could have said see ya later to all of them. But we will be back in Manteca for Christmas, Easter, Summer vacations. We are so excited and anxious to start what we know is the right thing. I think I said this before, that I felt like I jumped out of the frying pain and into God's hand. This is what God wants us to do. I hope we, as a family can continue to feel his inspiration to do his will. Neither of the choices we have made in the last two years have been mistakes, but actions with consequence that as the Lord says, "are for thy experience." We have become nothing but stronger through our moves. But I can't see anyone in our little family agreeing to a move again for a LONG time.

Loving New Family Search

Okay, so all you people who know how much I love doing Family History research. I have loved being able to find other distant relatives that are members of the church. And this has only been made possible through the family search modifications. I absolutely loved Elders Nelsons talk, at General Conference about using the resources to avoid duplication of work. And to also connect and collaborate with other relatives. I have found quite a few "new" relatives that I can share doing research and ordinance work with. This is truly the fulfillment of the scripture in Malachi "Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: and he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." I have been reading in the scriptures how the prophets in the Old Testament when they saw what was to come, like Enoch and Noah, and also in the Book of Mormon; Nephi, Jacob, Enos, asking the Lord to protect the generations to come from hardships by some promise given from our Heavenly Father. To give us the future generations something of a protection. Enoch asked that some of the people could be preserved. Noah was promised that we would never be wiped out with a flood again. Nephi and Jacob and Enos, all asking that the records be kept for future generations and their brethren to have the teachings of the fullness of gospel. I am so grateful for a young boy who decided to find out what he should do, what church he should join, and knelt in the woods to ask in faith, nothing wavering. And received a glorious answer. He saw God the Father and his Son. Amazing and True. And because of this we have the ability to be sealed together as families for all eternity.
I can't wait to show my dad how much more research I have been able to do. I am so grateful for the wonderful technologies that are afforded to us to use to link our generations. If you have not logged into the new site you should it is fun just to see what others have already done in your family research.
LOVE IT!!

Conference
We were so blessed to have the chance to go to Utah for Easter weekend. We were able to attend General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We went to the Saturday session's. Dave was able to take Steven and a young man, Yatsu, who is a recent convert to the church to the Priesthood session. I love going to conference. Just being able to hear the words of the Prophet and Apostles is uplifting. We needed to leave on Sunday to avoid bad weather, but we were able to listen to the afternoon Sunday session on the radio. It is amazing that we can have these things so quickly. Other parts of the world have to wait a little while to hear what the Prophet shared with us. Yatsu had never seen snow, so he and Robert had a snowball fight in front of our house in Utah. We had a wonderful trip.
