17 Years

I can hardly believe that it has been 17 years that Dave and I have been married. An unlikely match, and yet we love being married to each other. I really am grateful for the amazing experiences that we have had, and continue to have, together as we raise our family. Today we will be going to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple,
I love this temple almost as much as I love the Oakland LDS Temple. Having been sealed to each other and two of our children the Oakland Temple will always hold a sacred place in my heart.
I am so grateful for the blessing of being married for time and all eternity to such an amazing man. I am grateful for answered prayers and for his persistence. I am not sure we would have gotten married if he had not been so kind and encouraging. A nine month long, over a 1000 miles of distance can be very distressing on a relationship. Again I feel really blessed to have all that I do, it has been 17 wonderful years, and I look forward to 33 more at least! Thanks Dave! I love you!

"Marriage is the foundry for social order, the fountain of virtue, and the foundation for eternal exaltation. Marriage has been divinely designated as an eternal and everlasting covenant (see D&C 132:19). Marriage is sanctified when it is cherished and honored in holiness. That union is not merely between husband and wife; it embraces a partnership with God (see Matthew 19:6). 'Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other' ("The Family: A Proclamation to the World," paragraph 6). Children born of that marital union are 'an heritage of the Lord' (Psalm 127:3). Marriage is but the beginning bud of family life; parenthood is its flower. And that bouquet becomes even more beautiful when graced with grandchildren. Families may become as eternal as the kingdom of God itself (see D&C 132:19-20)."
"Nurturing Marriage," Russell M. Nelson Ensign, May 2006, 36-37
